DPnet under the chairmanship of Basanta Raj Adhikari
Kathmandu, Magh 7. The 17th Annual General Meeting of Disaster Preparedness Network Nepal (DPNET) has elected a new working committee under the chairmanship of Basanta Raj Adhikari. The initial meeting held after the general meeting has also decided to further strengthen the regional structure of the organization by determining the posts.
Basanta Raj Adhikari, affiliated with the Center for Disaster Studies, has been elected as the chairman of the newly formed working committee. Suraj Gautam has been elected as the general secretary, Harshaman Maharjan as the deputy general secretary, and Amika Rajthala as the treasurer. Similarly, Keshav Dutta Bhatta has been elected as the vice-chairman.
The members of the working committee include Kalpana Rawal Bogati, Ishwar Dutta Upadhyay, Shivaram Gautam, and Shyambabu Kattel. In addition, arrangements have been made to have two members from international non-governmental organizations.
The general assembly has also taken policy decisions to strengthen the organization of the DPNET, make the role of the provincial committee effective, and expand disaster risk reduction and preparedness activities to the local level. The new working committee has stated that it will further strengthen collaboration with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and stakeholders and prioritize disaster preparedness and capacity development programs at the community level.
